Artist Biography

Born in 1956, Lee Tio Chon expressed great interest in art since young. After working in the advertising industry for 40 years, he decided to retire and commit himself to an artistic career. He sets up an art studio where he teaches Chinese ink painting.

 

Lee is known for his unique 3D murals which were featured in newspapers such as the Sinchew and is frequently invited to paint at tourist destinations, hotels and more. Lee is currently the President of the Malaysia Contemporary Chinese Painting & Calligraphy Association – Teluk Intan, Perak Division. He is also the member of the Hangzhou Paintings and Calligraphy Seminar, China.

 

Lee held his first solo exhibition in 2014. In 2019, Lee and his students exhibited more than 200 Chinese ink paintings in an event visited by around 1,000 visitors at San Min Secondary School, Teluk Intan, Perak. Lee actively participates in various exhibitions across Malaysia annually including Johor, Zheng He Duo Yun Xuan Art Gallery Melaka, Kuala Lumpur & Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall, Ipoh, Taiping, Penang and more. He is often invited to calligraphy demonstrations and auction events organised by charitable bodies such as Kiwanis Malaysia.
