Alianda Chuah Kok Hooi, born in Taiping, was an extraordinary artist who excelled in watercolour and oil painting. He believed artworks should reflect contemporary life and human nature, emphasizing their modern spirit, value, historical significance, and appreciation potential.

Throughout his career, Chuah introduced several new artistic concepts and expressions: in 1962, he proposed "Emotionalism"; in 1998, he advocated the "Five Basic Combinations of Painting" and promoted "Revelation" expressionism; in 1999, he introduced "Relief Impressionism" and "Charm of Water"; in 2000, he developed "Prototypism"; and in 2004, he advocated the "integration of objects and oneself."

His solo show - “Burning of Life” was held at Chinwoo Art Gallery, Kuala Lumpur in 2009, Selected group shows include a 7-men group show touring Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh, Taiping and Penang  (1965); two-men teacher-student shows in Ipoh (1999) and Penang (2001); and various local and overseas exhibitions.

An art instructor and lecturer at art institutions for several years, Chuah was a life member of the Malaysia Contemporary Chinese Painting & Calligraphy Association, Penang Watercolour Society, as well as Perak Art Society (Ipoh), which he also co-founded.
