Jane Tan was born in Bandung, Indonesia in 1947. She studied fine art for two years at the Chelsea School of Art in London, England. Having had extensive travelling to many countries, she has gained eye-opening experiences besides enriching her knowledge and inspiration.

 

Inspired by the simple subjects found in traditional Chinese paintings, Jane Tan combines bold brushwork with minimal composition to convey a vivid and realistic style, often with impressionistic touches.

 

Jane Tan has exhibited at many galleries in Malaysia, including the Malaysian National Visual Arts Gallery and the Petronas Art Gallery, as well as various countries including Singapore, China, Korea, Thailand, Philippine, Myanmar, Japan and United Kingdom.

 

In 2016, Jane Tan was awarded 1st prize in the “Beautiful China in My Eyes 2016” - Year of Silk Road Tourism China Attraction Art Contest.
